Which numbers a marketing resume lives or dies on

Attributed ones. A reviewer discounts any figure without a channel and a period attached, because everyone's traffic went up during some quarter. Growing organic traffic 140% means little on its own; growing organic sessions from 31k to 74k monthly year over year on a 900-page catalogue is checkable and reads as honest.

Name the spend you controlled, the channel, the baseline and the window. Where a result was a team effort, say which part you ran.

How do I get a marketing resume past a keyword filter?

Match the platform names the posting uses and put them where a search will find them. Marketing recruiters filter on tools far more than on job titles, because titles in this field are close to meaningless across companies. HubSpot, Marketo, Klaviyo, GA4, Semrush, Ahrefs, Meta Ads Manager, Braze.

Keep them in a grouped skills block near the top and repeat the two or three that matter most inside the bullets where you used them. Category words on their own match nothing a recruiter typed.

Bullet language that survives a marketing screen

Every line below names a channel, a baseline and a window. That is the shape a hiring manager can question you on without either of you being embarrassed.

  • Took paid search CAC from $412 to $268 over two quarters on $180k monthly spend, holding volume flat.
  • Rebuilt the lifecycle email programme; flow revenue grew from 11% to 29% of total email revenue.
  • Published and internally linked 60 bottom-funnel pages, adding 4,200 monthly non-brand organic sessions within five months.
  • Ran a rebrand launch across paid, owned and earned, landing 38 placements and a 3x lift in branded search.

Job titles sit across boundaries more often than a filter admits. If your work spans more than one of these, the nearest two are worth reading as well.

Include them, but describe them the way you would if the interviewer had the dashboard open beside them. Nobody expects a candidate to link a private analytics account, and hiring managers in this field assume the numbers are self-reported. What they test for is coherence. A claimed 400% lift with no baseline, no spend and no window invites a question you will not enjoy, while a move from 31k to 74k monthly organic sessions over twelve months survives it easily. Round honestly rather than flatteringly, name the channel, and be ready to explain what you would do differently. If the result came from a team of eight, say which part was yours. The candidates who get caught out are almost never the ones with modest numbers. Where a figure came from a tool with a known attribution model, name the tool. It tells a reviewer which assumptions sit behind the number and reads as fluency rather than hedging.

One page for the first five years or so, two after that, and never more than two whatever your tenure. Marketing resumes bloat faster than most because every campaign feels quotable, and the result is a page of activity with no visible arc. A useful edit is to keep only bullets naming a number or a decision, then check whether what remains still shows progression from execution to strategy. Campaign lists compress well: running 40 paid social campaigns across five markets replaces eight separate lines and reads stronger. Older roles reduce to title, company and dates. If you work in a channel where a portfolio matters, such as content or brand, link it in the contact line and let it carry the samples instead of crowding the page. Keep the skills block on page one whatever else you cut, since that is the part a recruiter searches before a human reads a word of the rest.
