Support hiring is a volume screen

Customer support and success roles draw high application volume, so the first pass is fast and mechanical. Three numbers do most of the work: how many contacts you handled, how quickly you resolved them, and what customers said afterwards.

Tickets per day or week, first-response and resolution time, CSAT or NPS with the sample size attached. A support resume without them reads as untested, because every support organisation measures these and a candidate who does not quote them looks like one who did not perform.

Which platforms should a support resume name?

The helpdesk and CRM stack, by product name rather than by category. These are searched for directly, and platform familiarity genuinely shortens ramp time, so hiring managers weight it more heavily than they will admit.

Add the channels you have worked, whether phone, email, live chat, social or in-app, since each is a different rhythm. Add languages too. Multilingual coverage is often the single scarcest thing a support queue needs.

Bullets that show support quality, not just support activity

Volume alone says you were busy. Volume with a quality figure beside it says you were good, which is the claim a hiring manager is trying to verify.

  • Handled 65 tickets a day across chat and email at 94% CSAT on 1,100 rated responses.
  • Cut median first-response time from 9 hours to 47 minutes by rebuilding triage and the macro library.
  • Wrote 120 help-centre articles that deflected an estimated 15% of inbound tickets over two quarters.
  • Led a 9-person tier-one team through a product migration with no change in resolution time.

Job titles sit across boundaries more often than a filter admits. If your work spans more than one of these, the nearest two are worth reading as well.

  • Sales & Business Development resume templatesTemplates that give quota, attainment and deal size a line of their own, because a sales resume without a percentage next to a target is not a sales resume.

Weight the page towards diagnosis rather than volume. Support work sits closer to engineering than its reputation suggests: reproducing a bug, reading a log, writing an escalation another team can act on, querying a database to confirm what actually happened. Those are the bullets that move a support candidate into technical support engineering, solutions or quality assurance, and they are usually the ones a support resume omits in favour of ticket counts. Name the tooling you touched, including any SQL, API testing, scripting or log platforms, and describe one or two escalations end to end so a reviewer can watch you think. Keep the volume metrics but move them below the diagnostic evidence. The transition is common and hiring managers are receptive; the resume just has to argue it. Ask your current lead for your metrics before you leave, since most support platforms lock a departed agent out of their own history.

Closer than most people write it. Customer success is measured on retention and expansion, so the figures a reviewer wants are the ones a sales screen wants: gross and net revenue retention, book size, churn rate, expansion revenue sourced, and the account count you carried. Support-style metrics such as ticket volume and response time belong lower, because they describe activity rather than commercial outcome. What distinguishes a success resume from an account executive's is emphasis across the whole lifecycle: onboarding time to value, adoption rates, executive relationships held, and renewals that were at risk and were saved. Name the segment and the average contract value, because a manager carrying eight enterprise accounts and one carrying four hundred small-business accounts do genuinely different jobs. Name the products you supported and their complexity, because a hiring team is estimating how long it will take you to be useful and technical depth shortens that.
